Constitutional Bicentennial $5 Gold Coin Description
This $5 gold commemorative coin was authorized by Congress to celebrate the 200 year anniversary of the United States Constitution. These gold coins were only minted in Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition as collector coins, rather than for general circulation. Each coin has a $5 face value and contains the same standard weight, size and fineness of other comparable $5 gold coins.
Design of the Constitutional Bicentennial $5 Gold Coin
The Constitutional Bicentennial $5 gold coin portrays a stylized eagle holding a massive quill pen on the obverse. Another large quill pen is featured on the coin's reverse. To the left are nine stars, signifying the first colonies that ratified the Constitution. Four stars to the right represent the remaining original states. Both Uncirculated and Proof versions of the coin were minted at West Point.
