Seattle-Area Resident Wins Historic 1792 Peruvian 8 Escudo Gold Coin in Goldline International's Sweepstakes
Santa Monica, CA - August 12, 2011 - Goldline International, a leading source of physical precious metals, today announced the winner of its national sweepstakes for an antique gold coin. Mr. John Voigt, a portfolio administrator from Redmond, WA, won an authentic 1792 Peruvian 8 Escudo gold coin with an estimated retail value of approximately $2,800. The prize was the last in a broader giveaway which celebrated the run of Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" at Hollywood's El Capitan Theatre.
The antique Peruvian 8 Escudo prize coin is independently graded by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) as "XF 45," meaning the coin is in "extremely fine" condition. According to NGC, coins of this grade have well defined design features with only light wear evident throughout. The coin has been encased in a sonically sealed holder by NGC to ensure its authenticity and condition.
"Just before entering the contest, I had been entertaining my grandkids by creating a 'legend' about plastic 'gold' coins that I had hidden around my property, encouraging the children to go on a treasure hunt," said Mr. Voigt. "I came across the Goldline sweepstakes days later and thought that I would enter for fun. Now I plan on enjoying my own gold coin."
"Congratulations to Mr. Voigt for being selected among tens of thousands of entrants to win this historic gold coin," said Scott Carter, CEO of Goldline. "We hope the coin provides Mr. Voigt and his family with a treasured memento that can be passed on to future generations."
