July 20, 1969 the “Eagle has Landed” on the Moon. On July 21, 1969 Neil Armstrong decended from the lunar module and became the first man to step on the surface of the Moon followed by Buzz Aldrin. The astronauts spent nearly a full day on the moon before rejoining Michael Collins who flew the command module Columbia alone in orbit.
