The Australian Silver Kookaburra coin is the most prominent silver coin available from the Perth Mint. Introduced in 1990, the Silver Kookaburra was available only as a 1 oz silver coin in 1990 and 1991. Starting in 1992, the Perth Mint introduced additional weights in the popular program. Included among them is the 10 oz Silver Kookaburra.
Each 10 oz Australian Silver Kookaburra Coin in this listing comes to you with its own protective packaging. The Silver Kookaburra 10 oz coins available to you today are offered as a random year product. This means that the exact date mark you receive is dependent on the availability of coins in our warehouse at the time your payment is processed.
We cannot guarantee you a specific date mark. When you purchase multiple coins through this listing, you may receive several with the same date marks. Additionally, the Perth Mint uses new designs of the kookaburra on the reverse of the coin each year. As such, you may receive coins with varying designs or receive several with the same design if you purchase more than one.
On the reverse of 10 oz Australian Silver Kookaburra Coins is the design of the kookaburra. The largest member of the kingfisher species, the kookaburra is typically found throughout the Outback and even in suburban areas around Australia’s largest cities. Since 1990, the Perth Mint has offered new designs each year on the reverse.
The obverse of 10 oz Australian Silver Kookaburras features the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Silver Kookaburra coins feature an effigy of Her Majesty on the obverse and three different designs have been used to date on Silver Kookaburras. Coins dated 1990 to 1997 feature Raphael Maklouf’s third-generation design for the Royal Mint of England. The 1998 to 2018 dated coins have Ian Rank-Broadley’s fourth-generation design. Coins dated 2019 and onward feature Jody Clark’s fifth-generation design, which is the sixth to feature on Australian coins.
